Saudi/Chinese/Russian Governments

Saudi/Chinese/Russian GovernmentsAll political "spin" if you ask me. Sure there is alot of potential but this oil is all in very difficult/expensive areas to drill and produce ( i would exempt Saudi from this statement). We are talking deep water (witness Husky's recent discovery in the S. China sea), offshore Arctic very hostile environments etc etc. Both the Russians and the Chinese are going to need Western technology to get at these deposits and I dont think those ruskies are very good at running a fair and open "ship".... I think there is a big development betw Statoil and the Ruskies in the border area of the Barents Sea right now - Snorvit (or something lik that). Huge cost overuns and delays.. not a great model for future developments. I think we should be putting our money into our own Arctic !!! Lots of potential up there. I notice Mr Harper was up there this summer. He didnt go to the Aids conference and was ridiculed. He also used to spend alot of time up at the Canadian Arctic Institute at the U. Of Calgary in his younger days and is very much influenced by that culture. I think the Saudis do have alot of potential but really I think they much prefer a world a little short of the stuff "than swimming in it" 44% of the workers work for the Government!! they have a very young population with a very high population growth rate. They need those petrodollars! Bigbadun'
