RE: The New President of Argentina.

RE: The New President of Argentina. As GS said it's a fine line to walk and in my opinion Stelmach was drunk when he was walking it. I'm of the view that the royalty system was in dire need of a change but my focus was on the tarsands players and I was more than willing to let the REAL oil companies, those that actually have exploration risk, get a break. Still if you go back and apply the new rules to plays of the past few years I don't think that many, if any, would have been cancelled. It's the natgas price that is doing them in right now and when it recovers the drilling will be back and this is the way that it has always been in Alberta. I agree with First Energy (at least I think it was them) who said that "little oil loses, big oil wins" and for the life of me I can't understand why he went after the little guys and let the major tarsands guys slip by. One can talk all day long about ripping up agreements but Suncor and Syncrude have as sweet a deal as there is anywhere and they're chugging ahead no matter what.
