Gold oversold range

Gold oversold range

Source: TD Newcrest estimates

As well, gold equities remain inexpensive relative to the gold price itself. We estimate that gold equities are

currently pricing in a gold price of approximately US$675/oz, or 21% below the current spot gold price of

US$858/oz. On an historical basis, the ratio of the TSX gold equities (in US$ terms) relative to the US dollar

remains firmly in the oversold range having plunged to historic lows in late October. We believe that the

historic lows were reached during the great deleveraging process that peaked during September and October as

investors sold anything and everything, including gold equities as they de-risked their portfolios. Exhibit 2

illustrates that to get back to “fair value” versus the gold price, gold equities could rally a further 20-25%.
