Good for you but that is just too weird. I didn't get my BEPC shares for the BEP.UN I sold on July 28th.

These Brookfield guys are awfully confusing.

Ciao

Hey CSC

Very interesting. I stand corrected. I didn't realize so much of BIP's distribution was foreign income and so much of BEP's was actual dividends. To be honest, I hadn't looked into the details as my wife & I hold both in registered accounts.

I apologize to the board for the mis-leading post.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Have a good weekend.

Hey Sarge:

Firstly, thanks for sharing the below mssg from RBC re the 05 Aug delivery date for BEPC shares. That will save me the hassle of following up with BMO prematurely!

"RBC DI had a Notice that said they'd be getting the BEPC shares on Aug 5th. It takes a couple days to do the transfer from Brookfield."

Secondly, not that I want to disagree with you, but your comment re the favourable taxation characteristics of the common shares vs. the LP units [in a non registered account] is more applicable to BIP than BEP.

If you look at the mini table below re the 2019 distribution characterization for the two LPs, you can see that the BIP distribution has 65.6% taxed at one's highest marginal tax rate (>50% in my case) with 3.4% as Capital Gain and 31% as Return of Capital (my favourite as this is tax-deferred income; used to reduce the unit ACB). By comparison, the BEP distribution has only 2.3% taxed at the highest rate, 52.9% as an Eligible Dividend and 44.8% as RoC. So in my specific case, the after tax outcome is better for BEP.UN than for BEPC. That would not be the case for BIP, however.

Just saying!
