Fair enough questions.
Thanks for your response....
I'd agree that most Canadians would be positive on the permitting to get the jobs, tax base, infrastructure build out etc. No question. It is good. There are some concerns of course but when you need a job a bit of smoke in the sky isn't seen as a bad thing.

So, Boss, I ask you the question why is the New Prosperity mine not getting permitted? New Prosperity is:
  1. In the same watershed and on the same Inidian lands as Cow Mountain. Ok. Cow Mountain is a bit north and east of New Prosperity but it is less than a 1/2 day paddle to go from CM to New Prosperity and the flow is from Cow Mountain toward the New Prosperity.
  2. A large open pit mining operation not unlike some of the open pit ideas detailed for CM, but very early stages yet since there isn't even a PEA. The original Prosperity mine was a threat to a lake. CM is above several streams and lakes and we all know which direction waste water flows.
  3. Providing the same job potential as Cow Mountain might.
So why is New Prosperity stalled? Good question...which is why I asked what I did...and how will TIME resolve the opposition?
Another angle to consider: Perhaps all the work at NP lays down the ground work for others to follow...setting the standards for subsequent permits...dont know but a thought that could significantly reduce permitting time for all others...

Saying BL is permitted and saying CM will happen in the same way is a meaningless comparison. BL is a very small resource. CM is 10 times larger and is much more like the size of New Prosperity.
Didnt make that assumption, and I agree they are not apples...
How long will it take to permit CM? Will it be shorter than NP? I some how doubt it as the Indians are getting more and more organized and banding together to fight the Harper government on several fronts. Should be an interesting fight IMO but bring a lunch... the fight is going to go on for a long long time IMO.
So based on this message, your saying ENVIRONMENT is the primary concern...I ask you (or others) why is an environmental change (or risk) greater for the first nations than that of others? I mean we all drink the same water etc...so do others have lower standarsd...do others TRUST technology and government regulations MORE than first nations...or better yet, what would it take bring all parties onto the same page?
But talking of permitting is premature. First we need to see a PEA that outlines what kind of mining operation might be mounted then we start looking at the permitting which is part of the feasibility cycle, all work necessary to get to a reserve. For 2014/2015 I only expect to see resources from CM

Ya, my assumptions left profit and all that out of the discussion...including the steps to get to production, however since you bring it up, would you agree that if there was the right political will that these steps could be achieved in short order...say 2 years (meaning it seems all too often that political will trumps all...)
