The debs should be trading closer to $800. If you assume that they will be converted into about 2800 shares. The fact that they are stuck below $550 indicates that there isn't much confidence that the stock will appreciate, while the plan of arrangement is ongoing.
I don't know what Schacter was thinking, when he recommended BXE. Was he misled by management? Was he seduced by the high net asset value? I didn't bite, but he probably has a following that can't be happy, if they took his advice.
