Glencore/Merafe ferrochrome Mines to Markets

Thanks to Maureen O'Mahoney
- Production costs up or down effect ferrochrome prices
- Competition effects Glencore/Merafe value and price
- KWG game changing patents and 100-200 year's of Chromite supply would jeopardize Glencore/Merafe along with many others

South Africans had to deal with the worst ever series of power cuts in 2022. All in all the country lost a record 205 days of electricity due to constant breakdowns at the coal-fired power plants run by Eskom, the state-owned electricity utility. The plants are old and have not been sufficiently maintained.   The country’s energy crisis has been escalating since April 2008, when scheduled ...more

Great read, thanks grease!  It all seems to fit so perfectly... patented gas reduction method with a facility ran by the indigenous. Along with the ore being shipped with an electric rail veyor right into nakina (a utility that kwg plans to hand over to the indigenous community once running).  think big!  glta

Wow o Wow!! this has to be the ultimate whiner post of 2023.  What's the problem a little competition and more economical way of producing ferrochrome getting under Merafe's thin skin, too BAD so SAD.  What Europe and North America need is a fully protected supply chain and not one that is encumbent on the unstable political and social issues empeding deliversies to these ...more

Misty, this may be the biggest whiner post/article of 2023,or not, but whatever it is , it is concerning.  As we all know ,  XPS Consulting has been working with KWG to further these testings for the patents that KWG is trying to execute, and XPS Consulting is a company of Glencore.   I have mentioned this before, and I realise these tests are partially/wholly? funded by ...more

It's not only Glencore/Merafe which has done this or wants too!!! Many of them would love to out price Glencore/Merafe on world stage!!! Glencore/Merafe or others may just want to bury KWG patents for economic reasons (doubt that unless they aren't flush in nature gas) most likely would rather be only player with KWG game changing technology in ferrochrome Pear3/Le Penseur explained this a ...more

STNT, went on the XPS website where KWG is listed as a client however unable to locate any results of tests conducted by XPS related to the Patent. With the cuffufle going on in SA it would be in Glencore's interest to ensure the Patent process proceed with a commercial scale test which if successful would provide Glencore with considerable chromite production savings. Subsequently, one ...more

If someone were to utilize KWG's patent method, what's in it for KWG? Is it royalties on smelter or is it just one off sales. I suppose each would have it's own terms... Having said that, I've never put any value on the patent anyway as it was the claims in the ROF that got me interested over 20 years ago. DuhCritic
Comment by greasemonkies on Jan 26, 2023 2:34pm
The patents which KWG hold for production of ferrochrome in a solid state, may hold as much value as the deposits and possibly more!

GM. Your pumping is ridiculous. The connection you posted is 8 years old and yes the patent was approved but never tested as to commercial viability so worthless as an asset for KWG. They have 1.4 billion shares fully diluted and you and a few others expect between 1 to 2 dollars??? I hold KWG and would be more than happy to get 20 cents at this point. KWG's assets at this point is the route ...more

Thank you elk121 for your reasonable and IMO, very factual post. I too, have owned KWG for many, many, years. As you stated the pumping of an as yet, non-existent commercially proven patent is, again IMO, unconscionable, misleading, (intentional or otherwise) bordering on dishonest. Why do that to fellow investors?  The pure facts of this are readilly available if anyone cares to do their ...more

Hey Greasemonkies thanks for your input. The KWG website has about all you need to know about how and why this process is revolutionary. It is this phrase that has me a bit conserned as not everywhere in the world is there an abundance of natural gas or this good a quality of ore.The gas process is one thing, but would/could Glencore benefit from the Ring of Fire producing Chromite ore? My thoughts it wouldn't be much of a concern if the Libs showed an interest considering it is what they want, a reduction in greenhouse emissions. Any chromite producer should crawling all over this but testing at commercial levels is a must requirement.  You can do it in the lab but can you do it in the big outdoors at volume and maintain and measure the same results accordingly..  ...more

Startenout with liquid natural gas (LNG) being transported from many areas now, In particularly North America (USA) Canada isn't taking advantage of its natural resources, massive ships are transporting it to use in their countries, companies in these countries which don't have natural gas would most likely have facilities to convert LNG into natural gas to use KWG natural gas reduction ...more

GM, faintly recall seeing this 8 or years ago but this was only to see if the process was feasible and not a full scale commericial test  ie.  20 tons of ore. When that occurs the price of KWG will respond accordingly.  JMO..  MB
