RE:Clear as mudYour likely not gonna get the response your looking for on this without contacting the company directly. Which I encourage you to do so and report back. They seem to be hit and miss on if you get contact by others experience.
It's beyond my paygrade and I've never noticed the detail (nor have cared), but I'll offer this so that your not just shouting at a blank wall... it sounds like it's an agreement made very early in the funding of the company, and that specific shareholder that the deals are made with would likely be Ryan, his father (or other family member investor), another higher ranking company person or sweetheart investor in on the ground floor.
I would also say this makes doesn't make it impossible to model earnings from as your attempt will be to 'ballpark' it, and in documents, those royalties will be classified likely as 'royalties', Capex or some sort of expense in the quarterlies, which you can use to adjust your numbers over time to get an idea of, but obviously you just won't know what goes where and for the big picture it won't matter to you or your model, it's just something that may or may not bother you on your investment here, if your invested here...
