Based on OPTI's last quarter statements, I believed that they were essentially able to meet their debt payments until at least June/July of 2009. From what I read this morning, OPTI is very close to declaring that they can't make their debt payments as early as January 2009. Thanks to Nexen to at least give them a chance to get off the ground. I would not have invested in OPTI if they were doing this on their own and I am glad for it now.

They had to give up something to get something in return so as crappy as it sounds, at least they still have some life with this deal. Its better than the alternative option of insolvency.
