RE: RE: RE: OPC has a lot of demoralized shareholdNlOIL, obviously there are no guarantees, but if getting rid of water is really their biggest hurdle, then they should be able to figure that out....espescially if they have disposal wells on site and they only need some plumbing to get there.
Here is what does concern me; If the plant is designed to treat 230K bls of dirty well water, why not just treat the excess water, boil it and then vent it to atmosphere. Venting clean steam is not an issue. SO how clean is their steam? I don't know. But you can get portable demin or zeewee units in to clean up that water some more...say to just one or two boilers and then vent all of that clean steam to atmosphere.
If this were my plant, and there was a huge production loss associated with this, I would have come up with a resolution by now....even if it was temporary......losing money at my facility is not an option until all avenues have been exhausted.
The next question I have for those OPC/NEXEN folks is this; are you treating that water before disposing of it or do you plan on plugging up the formation with a bunch of oily/dirty water??!!!!!
Lazard says, that OPC has a "full compliment" of experts watching over Long lake........but to me, if that were the case, this excess water issue should have been anticipated and remedied WAAY SOONER.
So no offence to you LL folks but if they don't actually have people up there who have had expererience with disposal wells, they could still $hit the bed.
I'd like to think that there are some sharp OPC watchdogs up there, but sometimes you really need some innovative people to pull through some of these last minute issues......plus you have the OPTI/Nexen politics to deal with.
Like i said, getting the disposal going should be a big step; it proves that NEXEN is dilligent and trying to improve rates.....Are they trying their hardest? ......hard to say.....it has been colder than hell up there so that does pose some issues when you try to commission some water lines. But this is the news that I want to hear.
