RE:RE:Abbott test looks goodFindingmoney wrote: The reason it had those Accuracy numbers was because they only did high viral loads. The tests you refer to do nothing to help identify the problem and are not in the same testing arena as SONA. They are useless for patients that do not have symptoms, and the test does nothing but spread it around due to when a patient is most contagious that is when they are sent to get the test, not to mention the days leading up when they are asymptomatic and all the people they infected. The other tests do nothing to get ahead of the spread of the virus, only SONA and that is why 84.6% is a great accuracy for low viral load testing because if the test you refer to were to have the same viral load, the accuracy would be very low because of all the false negatives. Apples and oranges, and in this case the old way and the new way. IMO
Yeah 84.6% is fine... Honestly, it would be fine and really would do something to put a dent in the spread of covid if it gets to the market. Thats the difference... They had time and money to work on it, and now they need to deliver... I'm not TRYING to poop on Sona, but I am not happy with their press releases. (Those last 2 or 3 were total sh!t)
Anyhow, I don't know where you came up with this idea that the abbott test is less sensitive. It seems plenty sensitive and most importantly, its approved by the FDA. The market is still a free for all until the products start hitting shelves, and then its going to be a race to see who can keep inventory on the shelves.
If Sona doesn't get a real news release soon, they will be yesterdays news. And rightly so, the school year is going to start in acouple weeks. People wont care who makes the test, as long as they can get it for their kids.
