Can anyone provide a quick pros and cons on the 3 tests awaiting approval.
Very quick because quite busy:
1. QUIDEL needs machine and so not suitable for Screening. Has had problems with accuracy and still under a little suspicion.
2. ABBOTT machine free but most work been done on Symptomatic patients with high viral load. Significant doubts about accuracy in lower viral load patients and no evidence on the Asymptomatic.
3. SONA machine free, lab sensitivity and selectivity very high but less so in in-field testing ( there may however be very good reasons why so but would need time to fully explain) . Very good results in Asymptomatic group which will no doubt be investigated further. Working on saliva test. Very promising for Screening Programmes.
The other 2 are much bigger Companies but SONA has the support of Danaher ( 150 billion market cap) and has, in my and many others´ opinions the better and more versatile test.
