I found this interesting

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine tested negative for COVID-19 on Thursday after testing positive earlier in the day before he was to meet with President Donald Trump, according to a statement from his office.

His wife, Fran DeWine, also tested negative, as did staff members. They underwent a different type of test in Columbus; one considered to be more accurate than the rapid-result test which showed DeWine to be positive for COVID-19 just ahead of a planned meeting with Trump in Cleveland.

DeWine, an early advocate among Republicans of wearing masks and other pandemic precautions, said he took a test arranged by the White House in Cleveland as part of standard protocol before he was to meet Trump at an airport.

I wonder what antigen test was used Quidel or Becton dickinson. The article does not mention which one. Are they trying to protect the company? If anyone can find what test was used can you please let me know. Thanks

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mike-dewine-ohio-governor-covid-19-negative-test-hours-after-positive/ The Ohio governor's office said in a statement that the second test was a PCR test, which the office described as "extremely sensitive, as well as specific, for the virus." When DeWine was tested earlier in the day, an antigen test was used.

"Ohio governor Mike DeWine announced Thursday morning that he had tested positive for the coronavirus — but on Thursday night, he said a second test came back negative" "The PCR tests for both the governor and his wife were run twice, and came back negative both times, the office said."  "This is the same PCR test that has been used over 1.6 million times ...more

From the Yahoo Quidel board: NEW YORK The governors of six US states have formed a consortium to secure access to antigen tests for SARS-CoV-2. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced that he has joined with Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, and Virginia Governor Ralph Northam as part of a ...more

On a FOX news brief Ohio Governor was very critical of the "rapid antigen" tests saying they are only about 70% dependable. He said they are more prevalent to give a 'false negative' but his was in fact a 'false positive'. He likes the speed factor of the antigen test but is skeptical of the result. Not a good endorsement. i.e. get it done fast but don't believe the ...more

This also on the Yahoo board: "I think Quidel and BDX has to go through FDA new Antigen guidelines with 60 days. They have to provide independent validation with clinical trial same as Sona is going thru now. It will be survival of the fittest among 3 Antigen 5-15min test so far developed."

I hope this is right that QDEL and BD have to go through independent validation. That would give good comparison against Sona. It will probably eork in favour of Sona. There needs to be a level playing field.

Thank you, Pandora There is the answer I been looking for.  I know Quidell has been issues with their test.  I'm happy to hear that the FDA has created a level playing field. It's unforunate that Sona has been caught in the cross over but I feel we will come through with flying colours. This needed to be done before Antigen testing gets a BAD rap for being UNRELIABLE.  ...more
