I do not know about Canada but here in the USA it is the trade date that counts and not the settlement date for recognizing a capital gain or loss. Thus one can wait until the 31st to sell for a tax loss or gain. I just checked this with Fidility to make sure because it can be confusing. Markets in USA will be open all day on Friday. So the pain will are feeling could continue until end of trading

I belive it's December 29 for the last day To sell for  taxes

Fidility told me today it is the trade date.One can sell to recognize a gain or loss right up to the close of the market at 4 on Friday the 31st here in the USA. Check with your broker. If you do a google search it will also tell you that it is the trade date and not the settlement date.

Please don't compare Canada with the US You may have a lot of very mad people if the listen to you! Please do not listen to PP! In Canada it's the settlement date NOT the trade date. Today December 29 at market close is your last chance this year in Canada.

I clearly stated in my post I was citing the rules for trading in the USA. That the rules for Canada might be different. So don't make me out to be someone who is wrong or is trying to mislead people with bad information.

Hmm maybe it's different in the USA. Anyways it's not that important  what is important is that the company makes good on there promises.  way to much hype during there launch last year, setti talked big game numbers way to early now we're worth less then when the product wasn't even available.
