RE:RE:RE:RE:Hearing TodayThose Trump desires you listed ryandlor are all true enough but so far they're currently trapped in the Washington quagmire. This situation is all about Nevada. Local Nevada state politics and business.
The two-time GOP Governor Sandoval is still a very popular guy but he's up for re-election next year
and he needs this Rec Intro to go ahead smoothly since it was the will of the voters last November.
He's also got the support of Dem Senators who not only want this to go ahead smoothly but are salivating for an even higher tax rate (this is what Democrats do) for the stuff. So all, including I think the powerful Nevada Tax Commission, are on board going full steam ahead.
Established Big business, on the other hand, are not so keen on the whole idea. The gambling and liquor industries actively fought this last fall and now they're faced with a new and unknown entry into the scene. Obviously, the liquor guys see a direct competitor. Especially the liquor distribution guys. Think taxi drivers vs. Uber. The casinos see a product which may or may not keep their revenues flowing. So they are very uneasy about it. Current regulations keep Rec MJ out of public spaces including casino territory. That includes no vape lounges etc. Will tourists be allowed to do it sneakily in their rooms? Lots of questions.
Anyways, there will be continuing big pushback to the MJ newcomers and this lawsuit action by the Liquor industry is only the opening salvo. This emergency action by the Governor may only provide a temporary fix to the distribution issue pending results of litigation which could take months or years. How the Nevada government and judiciary deals with this will be vital to our investment but there is no doubt all this will be a thorn in the side of TGIF and other licensees for some time to come.
