In terms of the "IF". La Verde has been in the Teck exploration presentations 2010-2011, prominently listed and up to two slides given. These are very public acknowledgedments of Teck's interest. Few other Teck option properties are listed in this way, so I take that to be a strong indication of their interest.
Canaccord is being very patient, a strategy that is evidently successful.
