Working with D-Tech

Working with D-Tech

The D-Tech rotary steerable team, in conjunction with Cathedral Energy Services and Ulterra, recently drilled the 7 7/8-in. section of a well in the Wolfcamp Formation in Howard County. The teams worked with the operator to ensure proper preplanning was completed to drill the section in one run after a competitor’s RSS failed to complete the section in one run over multiple previous wells.

The BHA, which included the D-Tech next-generation rotary steerable tool, Cathedral C4 motor, and Ulterra RipSaw PDC bit, successfully drilled 14,226 ft in 68 drilling hours in one run.

This is the first run that combines the D-Tech RST and Cathedral motor, which provided an average ROP of 209 ft/hr.
