An Oregon breeder once said, "it takes hundreds of plants, to cube down to what he calls a Pheno" A Pheno is a plant that takes on all the desireable traits, but lets go the traits which are not desireable.
In the mind of Subcool, a true winning plant should offshoot seeds which are IDENTICAL EVERY TIME. In otherwords, besides one plant being female or another being male. That would be the ONLY difference EVERRRRRRR. Simon, who developed the AK47 strain, among others once told Subcool, a person would have to buy 10-100 packs of seeds before actually getting the AK47 that is desired. The person's mother plant, in otherwords !
Now for a Oregon pothead, that was absurb. Simon at the time was the most highly regarded Seed breeder at the time, winning Cups, ect ect. Subcool, meanwhile was working on a project that would have a 99.9% sativa mature in 45 days, unheard of, until Vortex came along. GLH
sells Vortex and Subcool's wife's masterpeice "jillyBean" Genetics can be modified and weened out, which is exactly what Isreal has done. If we want crystals on the leaves, by damm it, we will make them !!!!!
I could go on and on about genetics. If anyone is interested in Pot Genetics, look no further than Subcool himself, his writings are extensive. Hundreds if not thousands of posts and articles. Basically you can make a plant be anything you want !!! Back in the day, he was after flavour, first and foremost. Of course strength, but as a breeder, consistancy was #1 as he was selling weed seeds and felt every customer should get the Vortex plant. Not 1 of every 10000 !! He was very fair in price too, as he was in it for the love of the plant back then. Felt it was an honour to do what he was doing.
