Very good point Ascend, the introduction of pre-heated gaseous CO2 would enhance the steam injection on a SAGD operation, and possibly get the oil flowing quicker, I have read a few application regarding this and I think more work is being done in this area, one other interesting aspect of CO2 is that if you are burning natural gas to produce steam the flue cases contain a high percentage of CO2 which could be purified to industrial grade and reinjected into the steam stream for EOR as well as no releasing of CO2 into the atmosphere.
