Yeah... but here's the thing Jughound,  It isn't the Canadian government deciding not to sell the U.S  oil.  They don't want it.  The chinese do.  It's that simple.. and they are just as big and bad as the U.S  and would make great friends (with guns) if it ever came to what You stated first.  Think about it politically for a moment.  The only way to maintain national security and independance all at once is to be friends with both bad guys.
