RE: RE: Our Resource Based Economy
RE: RE: Our Resource Based Economy I believe that you are putting the cart before the horse. I agree that coal will probably be used less and less as time goes on but the world is hungry for energy and coal still meets that need. Natural gas is becoming a good substitute but it's not always cheaply available everywhere. China is an example. They know they have it but haven't developed it yet. It will be years before that happens. Other parts of world also rely heavily on coal for energy.
I believe that in time solar will provide a significant source of the world's energy requirements. And, what about nuclear energy. Once we learn how to reuse the byproducts we have a fabulously clean source of power. Canada has one of the world's richest sources of uranium. Let's face it, we are sellers of natural resources and it provides for our comfortable lifestyle.
I'm not willing to live in an economy that is resource based and not want to sell it's resources. What else do we have to sell and keep our up our western lifestyle?
