Response to email to Premier's office

ProCompliance foks need to be more vocal, even moreso then the green people.

Dear MOshowme (I used my real name in the email),

thank you for your kind words of support. We will do our best to share your note with the Premier at the earliest opportunity – she will certainly appreciate hearing from you.

On your behalf, we will also forward your comments on to the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Natural Gas, as staff there may be interested to hear your feedback. As you may know, the Ministry is actively looking at opportunities to cut red tape and make mining and exploration more efficient in British Columbia.

You may also be interested to know that the provincial government has made a commitment to expand nine mines and build eight new mines by 2015. We are pleased with the progress so far: since 2011, production is under way at three mines while permits are in place for the expansion of six B.C. mines and the construction of an additional three, new mines.

We agree with you that there is tremendous potential to create new, stable jobs – and maintain existing ones – in B.C.’s mineral exploration and mining industry. Ultimately, we envision a B.C. mining sector where regulatory processes are made more efficient while the highest of environmental and safety standards are upheld.

We hope this information helps to explain the province’s position on some of the issues you have raised. Again, thank you for writing – we appreciate hearing from you.
