Has anyone considered building a thermal coal power plant with modern carbon capitioning. On or near the mine site. This would solve the thermal coal problem, This would also create more good paying jobs, the area would add to the power grid. also they can sell any surplus power. Coal is an affordable,reliable and essential resource. Just a thought.

CO2 capture is a great idea but practically it remains a pipe dream.  The rock formations needed to store the CO2 are not conveniently located to existing sites or sites conducive to having a coal plant.  Once the CO2 is in the ground it does not tend to stay as well as we'd like and...
