to those who continue to claim Raven is suported--without any evidence--another group adds name to growing list of groups so far that have publicly opposed the Raven Mine--medical, environmental, community, community governments, educational, religious, First Nations.

 


Motion (MJ Patterson/Rudy Friesen) that Comox-Nanaimo Presbytery calls upon the Government of British Columbia and the Government of Canada to refuse the Raven Underground Coal Mine permit; and that Comox Nanaimo Presbytery issues a press release to this effect. Carried

 

Motion: (MJ Patterson/Cam O’Connor) that Comox-Nanaimo Presbytery encourages its pastoral charges and individuals to express their concerns in writing to elected members of government at all levels regarding the proposed Raven Underground Coal Mine.  Carried

So what's that, something like a Jihad?    I think you're smoking too much of that Vancouver bud mokita.  If you are, don't keep it in too long.  It's effecting your mind, IMO.    Maybe a Jihad is over the edge, but telling your pastoral charges what to do, in voting against Raven is like telling them which political party to vote for.   I think ...more

the Presbytery is a United Church of Canada group representing churches from Nanaimo and throughout the Comox Valley.

And I don't think it's wise to have priests as political, or geopolitical advocates.    It's like Madonna wearing a Vote for Obama shirt and telling her fans who they should vote for at her concerts.    Priests should not interfere in people's every day life.  I see the Roman Catholic church has changed their stance on many things, they ...more

I'm sure you know this but are simply using the 'priest' thing as a way to cut it down.  Fact is, it was not a 'priest'.  It was a church community and board.   A board that, if its like any other board that run churches, is made up of regular community members and that engages their community through their congregation.  It is not often that churches make ...more

Yes str8 it was getting a bit overblown, my apologies for that.  It just pizzes me off when I have to read post after post of bs from that chris guy.   All he's concerned about is the traffic, and he comes on this investor site to do what?  It's obviously not beneficial for shareholders, and especially when they blow the negative points out of proportion.    ...more
