Most are not environmentalists but NIMBY's and there is a huge difference.  I recently drove past a small waterfront community lobbying to stop the development of a proposed wind farm because of the effects on the local frog population.....of course it has nothing to do with the fact the NIMBY's don't want an eyesore in their little habitat...
