RE: RE: RE: RE: Fact: Raven has two modes Metallur Thank c0lmustard.
I agree. However, it would be inaccurate to say nobody is preparing for 'the alternative case' when the company has already specified that their process plant will be designed to be able to produce either the base 88/12 or the alternative100% thermal.
I think we'll have to see. My feeling is that we'll see Raven start to produce the metallurgical product and find out that the product isn't as good, or the yields aren't as good as they expect. 43% from the run of mine ain't great.
With Quinsam being basically the same seam of coal 50km to the north, and them never having sold an ounce of metallurgical coal in their 20 year history, and with Quinsam/Hillsborough execs on the board, I think there is a very good chance that at some point Raven will simply go 100% thermal simply because the coal is best suited to that.
Especially without SSCC prices at record highs like they were when this proposal got started, the cost benefit over the Thermal just won't be enough if the yields don't pan out.
If I had 100% confidence that Raven was going to only produce met coal then my position would soften somewhat. As it stands, there are simply too many holes. They're big enough to drive a B-Train truck through.
