I read that article by The Vancouver Sun that you posted Mokita.  It seams that you have overlooked the fact that these coal mines meantioned in the article are in North Eastern BC.  Mines in this area are hard to find labour for because nobody wants to live up there.  It's darker, colder, drug and alcohol problems are a huge issue...  AND THERE ARE NO WOMEN!

That's why no Canadians want to work there.  That's why chinese workers can fill the void.  And unfortunately, immigrants are being taken advantage of.  I really hate hearing about cases like the ones mentioned in the article.  This problem is not specific to mining.  Did you read about the immigrant workers who were tree planting and weren't paid?  It's also bad in Fishing related jobs and it all needs to stop.

Should the Raven project be approved, there will be no shortage of workers.  I personally know 5 people who have applied and I know how hungry this area is for work.
