In any retail business, bosses always want you to push sales of items even... even in banks they do that, what is the difference?? I always made sure my csr's took breaks - always - even if they had to close the doors for 30 minutes... what one manager does only reflects on that manager - not all. I also gave credit where credit is due... maybe your manager sucked in that area??? MY csr's always told customers their options... we always passed our mystery shops so maybe that is why - different manager, different levels of respect or lack thereof?
