Because the market in California alone dwarfs the market in Canada, and with the STATES act being introduced and Trump's comments on supporting it means the US market is likely to explode.  With the high PP's happening for Canadian MJ companies, they can acquire US assests much more easily. Using MJ as a treatment for opiod addiction is also becoming more and more popular and is an accepted treatment plan supported in multiple states.
