Not to get picky ahavaoil but the surpluses were already being run by the previous gov't (reversing the massive deficits of the Mulroney conservatives) and the tax cuts by the previous gov't were larger. Remember Flaherty cut the GST by 1% but raised the personal income tax rate by 0.5% at the same time. Anyway your point is valid and Canada certainly is doinf fine and doesn't need lessons from anybody.
