Kirklandspecial wrote: you are underestimating the difference of price from BM to dispensaries.

BM 7grams = $50

Dispensaries in the states are $50us/ 3.5

It will be double the price for dispensary cannabis

people dont have a lot of money.  Half price is huge.

We will see what happens.  There's a much higher cost to produce cannabis vs Liquor and tobacco.

LOL - now you have canadian prices for BM abd U.S prices for dispensaries to make the ratio outa whack..good one..

why dont you just stick to same country currency and BM prices ?

For example BM in the states is more than 50 bucks  for 3.5 G -some states years past it was 50 for a G ..especiIally in new york and boston -
So how much will that same weed be in a dispensary in new your or boston..i bet similar priced and you dont have to worry about getting robbed..

Canadian BM example is much different , with an abundance of weed from a result of laxed laws and "health canada licenses" flooded the streets causing a drastic decrease in price per pound. 2005-2008 it was roughly  2500+ an LB and today around 16-17for the same quality ... Now if the market gets squeezed further as a result of dispensaries and online platforms (like they have been) the street dealers will be forced to A- lower their cost B-get better quality than dispensary

So lets dissect A- lower their cost

So lowered cost to compete with dispensary and online means reduced profit margins for wholesaler and street level dealers.not to mention competition goes up^^^ but thats a different topic....so whats to say the government wont up the laws for dealers caught stepping on thier toes? When the govnt gets greedy and sees this tax money they will want more and more of the BM share...how can they get more? Well start with harsher penalties for wholesalers supplying the streets for one..mandatory sentencing? When does risk outweigh reward....?

Something else to think about kirk is another possible squeeze on profit margins could be hiking the hydro up of residences and businesses while at the same time giving these LPs discounts ..SO less profit margins again for the wholesalers providing the BM...so harsher penalties plus more squeeze on the bottom line...again when does risk outweigh reward?...pounds are 14/15/16 now just wait till the surpless like you always talk about happens lol how much will wholesalers sell for 800-900? - so less profits for wholesale suppliers but higher risk of imprisonment and higher energy costs etc..coupled with less demand..

B-get better quality

imo this most important for BM  to compete with gov in future--no more cheap weed period--no single A-no double A....only trips and quads ..the weed has to be more potent than dispensary weed period...( like some feel is the standard already for BM)..in order to produce top quality quads it takes certain strains.(usually indicas) ..certain strains that yeild much less than say a commercial strain suitable for mass production ie sativa indica hybrid usually ...so small batch production for the BM .no autoflower strains 30-60 days ---its the 90 day indicas that will last ...hangdried handtrimmed to perfection--***quads****
So with the streets saturated with product in few years like you say will happen forces BM to supply small batch quads at double AA prices 1000 a P or so ..with harsher penalties less yeild  and higher energy costs cutting into profits ...and with BM shrinking taking much longer to move product might just force a few people into the legal side of things maybe owning a shop ..dispensary ,bakeshop edibles etc etc...

In conclusion kirk, Street dealers will lose customers regardless (they already are) some business lost, is business lost period....!...and like i said what about shatter and edibles and drinks? You would buy an edible off someone you know a friend or would you prefer a consistant product, produced in a state of the art facility and quality controlled...-personally i know where ill be buying -....

And eventually kirk like i  said generation Z will only know one way to buy thc products and thats off the shelves ....
