Unfortunately the outcome of will only serve to entrench certain ideals, with little or no exchange of opinions resulting in "preaching to the choir".
For some reason the middle ground is no longer an option.
I will agree that the US is leading the world in political suicide, and as long as Trump is alive he will have a loyal following. The question is, what happens when Trump is no longer around? He is quite old and in horrible physical condition, and could drop at any moment. I doubt there is anyone who could take over with any success whatsoever.
It really is sad that the world is such a mess.
