Sooo..

why is that when people are buying DLKM the price doesn't rise as fast as it drops when people are selling.

I'll never understand stocks...

There is a buyer AND seller with every transaction.  One can not buy a share without a seller and one can not sell a share without a buyer.

So what drives the price either up or down?

If you decide you are going to sell your bicycle, you as the seller decide what the minimum price you would accept for it.  The buyer of your bicycle will have to set his maximum price he will give you for it.The whole financial sector is about to explode and even the old timer experts don't really know what the world is going to look like in a few years.  Many smart, experienced ...more

BTW, if you decide to sell, DO NOT sell "at market" which would let a buyer name his price, like twenty cents, you will get ripped off big time.  Sell with a "limit order" limiting the minimum you will accept for your stock.Good Luck

Its sooo funny you said that..I was telling my wife today that I think i picked the worst time in history to start trading stocks..I started early this year when Visa IPO. (I was supposed to start when MA ipo but missed out on that one and said well I'm not missing out on the Visa one)I've being doing okay but I just still need an education on why the stocks do what it do. Sometimes I' ...more

If you don't know what you are doing, trade small lots until you are showing a profit on those trades.Don't use margin.Make your education as inexpensive as possible. Read books recommended by folks who seem to know what they are doing. I recommend Dhando Investor (a short and very good introduction to value investing). Hope it works out well. I decided I needed to get serious about 4 ...more

Hey guys, I am being told that the news that we are waiting for about the financing and stuff, should be out this week. Ha, sounds like a broken record, but how else can I say it. I personally have no doubt that it is coming, just don't want to lay any money down on when. Lets hope it is this week. On some other stuff, I have been hearing that Harp is hard at work on some other things. I ...more

The low volume selling at the moment is mostly being done by the big fish who are taking advantage of the few left with weak knees who are having trouble staying on the ride. Otherwise i think very few people want to buy new shares until things are a little ore certain, and i think those with existing shares see too much promise and dont want to sell just yet for fear of looking like a fool when ...more

So if no one sales.. no one can buy--which means the stock won't go up right?  So when there is good news why would someone sell?  Is that when the MM comes in to raise or lower the price to get folks to sell so people can buy?Is that how it works?
Comment by Urban_Renegade on Jul 15, 2008 12:49pm
Everyone interprets news....or lack thereof differently. A seller will only sell when he THINKS  there is no more money to be made on that stock and a buyer will only buy when he THINKS there is some money left  to be made.. And unfortunately in stocks.....SOMEONE HAS TO BE WRONG!! Dont kid yourself, we're not talking about small chumps like you and me.....we're talking the big ...more

Thanks..So another questionWhen i see a 10 point spread from the bid to ask.. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Is that the MM trying to prevent people from selling by lowering the bid?  Would that suggest that folks are trying to sell and that the price is more than likely going to go down soon?
