RE:SHAREHOLDERS SHOULD BE ADDINGForgive me if I'm preaching to the choir here but I thought I'd lay out some thoughts about the current state of affairs in this sector
I generally pay no attention to "targets". They're just opinions and you know what they say about opinions.
However I do agree with you that at these ridiculously low prices, accumulation is a good plan. It's difficult to see long term with a stock that has had a downward trajectory for 4 years now but remember this....
Something will break the pipeline stalemate at some point and we will see higher SP. Most likely before the end of 2019 with more refinery capacity coming back online - which will bring the price of AB oil back up, even if a little.
Now, as to the pipeline standoff, I would suggest that every investor here should consider themselves pipeline activists. There are currently 34,000,000 vehicles on our roads (StatsCan). Who knows how many lawnmowers, chainsaws, trimmers, tractors, generators, airplanes, trains, boats, hedge trimmers, etc etc etc. And while I'm sure most of us would love to see a world with zero pollution, it's just not possible right now. We cannot just remove all these gas powered machines from our roads and yards and skies and waters. Don't forget that "clean electric" vehicles get their electricity from somewhere. (hint - it's not from fairy dust)
Also, if we turn off our taps, we must then buy more and more from countries like SA and Nigeria (see 34,000,000 vehicles above), who have no enviro controls, no human rights oversight and are run by brutally autocratic religous zealots. As compared to Canada where we have the most stringent enviro oversight and approvals process (even before the ridiculous Bill C69) as well as a better human rights record (the residential schools discussion has no place here) and much better distribution of wealth (in SA it's concentrated in one family ).
In addition, the enviro crew forgets about the spin off jobs from the industry - Construction, electrical, food services, vehicle sales, house sales, etc etc etc. The energy industry provides HUNDREDS of thousands of direct and indirect jobs across Canada. If they all disappeared tomorrow the country would be bankrupt in short order. Period.
So for investors who are sick of watching this and other Canadian energy stocks languish because of gov't incomptetence and protestor ignorance, may I politely suggest that you get out there and make more noise with your MP's as well as in the forum of public opinion.
The fact is, people who are anti-pipeline, are anti-Canada.
