That is a super disingenuous statement by the government. That just means the tax is baked into the price rather than itemized separately. Make no mistake, the customer is paying the full cost of the tax. I think this is a very reasonable tax level for rec but outrageous to add it to medical. I think the concern is that people will be incentived to go into medical if it is cheaper than rec. You can still write off medical on your taxes but that won’t be any benefit to poor people. Way to stick it to poor sick people.
