BC to have “at least one store” open on day 1 of rec

Jesus, and I thought Ontario was a mess. At least we will get private retail at some point but who knows when.

 

By my count our 3 most populous provinces will have a combined total of 61 stores open on day 1 to serve over 26 Million people. So much for first mover advantage. I have a feeling that there may be a lot of LPs willing wholesale product to Emblem because the can’t sell it to the Liquor Board by late this year/early next year.

In absence of any federal and provincial regulations both Victoria and Vancouver took it upon themselves to start issuing licenses to dispensaries rather than shutting them down. None of those licenses will be grandfathered though so everyone must now apply to the province for a license and the province will now be responsible for shutting down dispensaries operating without a provincial license
