There are 2 main sides to Orts challenges.
The scientific and the business acumen.
RB was the visionary who took the science side and ran with it and as far as we know there is a very good chance that it could come to fruition. The groundwork has been done in that regard and hopefully it is just a matter of sorting out all of the technical glitches and the science side of things will work out.
On the business acumen side of the story RB has proven that he is not up to the task.
Add to that the fact that he flagrantly fed the investors false information in order to cover up his shortcomings in a most dishonest manner, in the process destroying his own and the companies credability and it adds up to the fact that he has made himself a liability to the company and his usefullness is now very limited. His tactics alone are proof enough that he needs to go.
Some would make the argument that he alone holds the key to the technology and without him the company has nothing.
That is simply not true.
The world is full of extremely intelligent scientific types who could easily take the existing knowledge to fruition. The concept is no longer cloaked in mystery.  Just hire a brainiac to take care of that side of things and let Kelly run with the business side of things.
RB has brought this upon himself by using the dishonest tactics that he did and his usefullness is outweighed by the liability that he has become.
Time to finish cleaning house and move on to bigger and better prospects.
