RE:That I thought about it and passed - keep the deferral if nothing happens this year, most of my shares are sheltered now in any event.
The lie that the change was aimed at a tiny percentage of the very wealthy but actually hits (in time) a huge swath of moderately wealthy - cottage owners, small business people who own their commercial properties as retirement savings, estate portfolios that will get bumped up on last to die for couples - bald faced lies by the Finance Minister about what was being targeted and maybe the PM is too stupid to even understand. But you know, the opposition haven't exactly said they would reverse it - it's a grab from baby boomers and will be paid for by their kids - the ones who were supposed to be sucked in by the "we'll tax the rich to help with your housing woes" group.
In my family at least I sat down and explained to my kids - it's you guys who are being gored by this.
All that reckless spending! Now comes home to roost.
