The are only 4 things that cause buying like that 1. Short squeeze - not likely, given that Credit Suisse bought everything in sight and the short interest isn't that high.
2. Index rebalance - which in this case would be index inclusion.
3. Hostile bid brewing. Possible corporate buyer.
4. Fund taking a position and willing to pay the necessary premium to get a sizeable position
Oh, and here's some perspective to anyone who thinks the move is "huge"... AMW's market cap went up a whopping $8 million dollars today. That my friends is the power of leverage and a tight share structure.
