RE: Dave / Gold conspiracy?

RE: Dave / Gold conspiracy?Dave, You obviously believe there is an ongoing conspiracy spanning many decades, where a secret cabal of faceless government bureaucrats are attempting to manipulate the gold market to achieve some nefarious objective. I'm not particularly fond of these conspiracy theories. It's very easy to accuse people of wrongdoing. Think how easy it is to spread negative gossip. Someone could go around and spread rumors that you have committed some despicable offense, Dave, and there would be very little you could do to defend yourself. What you are describing are not facts at all, but rumors. And the truth is juicy gossip sells. People just love that hellfire and damnation stuff! A whole nation was dragged into war by this type of thinking. Remember the weapons of mass destruction conspiracy that the US administration used as justification to launch their ill advised misadventure in Iraq? All kinds of experts came forward to testify that there was a conspiracy to manufacture massive quantities of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. The head of the CIA, George Tenet, told the President, “This is a slam dunk.” The fact that they had no direct proof didn’t seem to bother anyone. And that is the problem with this type of thinking. You start looking for "facts" that confirm your own suspicions, while at the same time ignoring other more mundane possibilities that could just as easily explain events. You know what I think? Aside from interest rates, I don't believe that the central bankers of the world are conspiring to manipulate anything. They are not conspirators on a secret mission, but rather nondescript clerks and administrators, patiently waiting to turn 65 so they can finally get their gold watch and pension. Sometimes reality can be very boring. B
