The following is a translation of some of Mr Stephanou's speech: "Mining and Metallurgical industries are fundamental pieces of the well-being of the Greek economy, and within the European Union, Greece is one of the countries with a significant mining business and exports of mineral products." "In a Europe with limited current mining potential and a complex set of restricting laws, it is logical that the mining production does not receive enough support vs the support given to the actual trading of metals and minerals and its importation from non-European countries such as Africa, Australia and India etc." "Environmental, quality of life, safety and social welfare, in combination with the continuous disclosure of information and the active involvement of the citizens, merit a new human-centric approach and the acceptance of sustainable development and new technological advances in the mining industry." "It is now scientifically proven that both environment and sustainable development can live together and both can become the foundation for a better society." "The Mining Industry is extremely important for the Regional Development of Greece. In many cases, geology and economic mineralization are found in areas where other kinds of development are limited, and thus, the mining industry can provide for the well-being of the local populations and other forms of services and industries." "The government supports the development of the Gold Mining business in Chalkidiki, according to the environmental framework. The execution of this initiative will develop this region and provide work for 600 people in the construction phase and 1,300 people in the production phase." Frontier Pacific Mining, through its wholly owned Greek subsidiary, Thracean Gold Mines (TGM), is working closely with the Greek Government to obtain the Joint Ministerial Approval which will allow the construction of TGM's Perama Hill Gold Mine in Northern Greece to commence. In view of this positive statement of support of the mining industry by the Government of Greece, TGM is accelerating its large scale media campaign in Evros and Rodopi in order to inform the local population of the safety of its operations and the economic benefits that the development will bring to the region.
