Glk gets paid cost for samples given out and awhile back there was speculation on price of graphite so what would be dollar value on these buckets.????
Comment by uncleronstips on Dec 16, 2018 11:40am
I wonder if this is a new customer ? More samples = more potential markets , which is positive news. Build the customer base and create more business opportunities. At least this proves that Novocarbon is alive & doing business , and shipping larger & larger orders. The last business week of 2018 is approaching. Make it a good one Novocarbon.

There have been 3 barrels lately.  1. Micronized 22 micron at 99% 2. Micronized 45 micron at 99% 3. Spherical 22 micron at 99%.  All must be purified, probably through Ashland.  1.  Could be used for batteries.  2.  Probably not for battery since it's 45 micron.  3.  I believe that one was sent to California.  Since it's spherical it's ...more

Spherical 22 micron is tiny stuff. Spherical is what is the best and most desired by the 3D / AM printing business , because it flows like water therefore creating a better & more uniform part with a smoother surface. Anodes ? Could be a thousand different uses for this material.

Hi Floridas, Related to the last 4 barrels sent out for qualification/testing I would like to add. 1. MG2599 = 25µm High Purity Micronized Graphite (99.9%+) (December 15th) 2. MG1599 = 15µm High Purity Micronized Graphite (99.9%+) (December 15th) 3. SPG20 = 20µm Spherical Flake Graphite (typically 99.9%+) --> currently  available in limited quantities for product ...more

Thanks Rechner. Companies that are in the process of succeeding have periods where they really struggle, with  serious delays.  Stock price takes a hit.  Some stocks you have to wait until legal agreements are finally signed or things getting built are delayed or the government slows them down.  Eventually after (if) they can overcome the obstacle, that's when they pop ...more

Comment by Rechnerhand on Jan 05, 2019 10:05am
When your question refers to what GLK receives as a compensation I would suggest nil for now but please keep in contact with Mr. Ferguson, Paul for clarification. Other then above it depends on contract details you have but the difference in between flake and synthetic is multiple. Both flake and synthetic are competing in the battery industry to each other while costs for synthetic are far higher ...more

Rechner a couple of questions for you. 1.  Do you know if they get paid going prices every time they send out a sample. 2.  Is it a different customer each time or possibly the same customer asking for different samples. 3.  If we get orders for half of these samples, could we deliver it in the next year or two
Comment by ogieboogeyman on Jan 29, 2019 6:15pm
cost to create is what Paul F said quite a while ago when I asked him....that may have changed though BOO

Hi Bull. I don't have inside information but I do my homework and research the space. I thought the questions were good and was able to get some answers. 1. No they do not get paid for all the samples being sent out. I see it as companies giving samples at Costco so the customer can try it out and make a bigger purchase. 2. It's usually one sample per customer but I believe Mike C. stated ...more

I remember there were 6 crucibles @ ashland.  ? One each for a certain type of material . This is to prevent cross contamination. True , these are. only capable of producing a limited quantity of material. How long would it take to add more crucibles to meet a bigger demand ? The 6 crucibles are for producing samples & for testing quality control. I dont think it would take much to ramp ...more

Examples of graphite machinery Pyrogenesis is providing machinery for HPQ to purify quartz.  Some of it experimental and it is taking time to get the desired result, the furnace they are using works fine.  In the link they show a continuuos furnace and that would allow for more output BUT it will take time to get that up and running.  Like HPQ the first few run throughs it will ...more

the PyroGenesis QRR plasma furnace is probably much more complex , in that certain impurities like boron, + tungsten have to be removed. Same as their 3D printing powders, which they have successfully produced & have a guaranteed & certified quality. ( I did mention PyroGenesis to Paul Ferguson a couple of years ago. ) that was before the certification process was established worldwide ...more

I don’t think these crucibles are one only for each grade of graphite are they?once they start baking it will take off but what is the true price for the different types of graphite that’s the secret here it’s pricing so dig deep I personally have no idea but I remember last year some quotes were floating on here 1000bucks a gram or an ounce  ,don’t think so , anyone really know?
Comment by Floridas2000 on Feb 03, 2019 10:21am
Graphene is by the gram.  Battery grade graphite is by the tonne, the smaller the size the more the price and that is over 1000.  How much over depends on what it's used for. They just need to execute at this point.

You're welcome with your questions but to be honest ... my answers are guesses! 1. I hope they get paid but to be sure about this you know the answer who to contact. At least I hope they will have a kind of mix calculation ... in case you'll get a supply agreement then put costs for the trial runs on top of the (I guess) the 1st year in supply. 2. I'm pretty sure, yes. They have many ...more
