Fewer Canadians are looking to list their homes

Fewer Canadians are looking to list their homesFewer Canadians in the country’s largest real estate market are currently looking to list their homes on the market than before, according to a survey by the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board. Only 21 per cent of those polled by TRREB said they were looking to list their house for sale this year, compared to 32 per cent last year.

The bear thesis is that many mortgage borrowers that applied for deferral will not be able to pay their mortgages after deferral ends. If that is true, then these borrowers should be listing their homes for sale if they believe they can't make mortgage payments.

BUT none of these is happening. Listings have been low, indicating that borrowers are confident with making their mortgage payments. HCG loan book, again, remains strong.
