RE: HRG still in the "news".....

Packerdriver,

I received that news flash from Stockhouse also. I would be very embarassed if I were a columnist putting that junk out. Typical eastern Canadian newsrag from TO with no researchers in the background. Just using a screener and putting the garbage out.

I wouldn't touch any of these stocks with a 10 foot pole or 20 foot Russian........;>)

Regards......Nova

The Globe and Mail uses a Benjamin Graham-style strategy to find value stocks in its Friday edition. The Globe's Ian McGugan writes in the Number Cruncher column that Mr. Graham is the father of value investing. He learned how to spot undervalued stocks during the Great Depression. As the years went by, he became an increasing fan of an extraordinarily simple approach to picking a basket of stocks. Mr. Graham recommended that investors create a portfolio of at least 30 stocks with price-to-earnings ratios below 10 and debt-to-equity ratios of less than 50 per cent. He suggested investors hold each stock until it returned 50 per cent or, if it failed to meet that target, sell it by the end of the second calendar year from the time of purchase. Speaking in 1976, Mr. Graham calculated that his strategy had returned about 15 per cent a year for the previous 50 years. He said, however, that investors should not expect 15 per cent every year. He said the minimum period of time to determine the likely performance of the strategy was five years. Some Graham-inspired picks are High River Gold, Major Drilling Group International, Nevsun Resources, Petrominerales, Horizon North Logistics and Twin Butte Energy.
