RE: RE: Word of CautionRemember: hydrogen isn't an energy source, it is a storage medium. You still need electricity (or some other source) to make it. Therefore, they aren't competing with windmills, etc., they are competing with batteries. Actually, hydrogen has a role to play with windmills as a way to smooth out the erratic power supply from them. If you convert peak wind production that you don't currently need into H2 (at about a 50% energy loss), then convert it back again when you do need the power, but the windmill isn't turning, the electrolyzer/fuel cell combination can be useful, especially in off-grid situations. The advantage is that once the H2 is in the tank, you can store it indefinitely, whereas a battery will discharge over time.
Their latest financing wasn't financing in the sense that someone lent them money. It was some financial sleight of hand where they "exchanged" ~$20 million in tax write-offs they didn't think they were going to use in exchange for $9 million cash. Smart, yes, but smacks of desperation in my opinion. There, that really is the last I will write on this.
