could it be

Could it be,
That for a reason (legal, business) IMV cannot/is not allowed to update?
Not just COVID. This is a cancer research company.
The Infectious diseases part was not active until COVID appeared

I know from pot stock licensing deals I've been in that any discussion of Health Canada is off limits to investors when awaiting approvals, so their hands are tied there. On the other hand I know HC is extremely slow, but its been 4 months or more since they hyped us as if news was expected in mid July or so. Two months late deserves an explanation.

I spoke to company, they provided all that was needed. so the delay is 100% HC... Management is very frustrated.

Bikkel, I have spoken with them as well and received similar message.HC is notorious for their slowness and, undoubtedly, some of the blame lies with then. However, considering the urgency for a vaccine as emphasized by the government and the inordinate length of time to reach a conclusion, one has to wonder as to the completeness of the company's submissions. They express frustration but are not ...more

So good to hear anicdotal news from random/anonymous posters on a forum as opposed to from the company themselves.  Super professional way to conduct business.  Glad they are "providing" infoirmation to a select few!!!! :)

So did they specifically say there were no outstanding issues? The basic way I understand it HC will assess the file, request more things if needed, the company then responds and that back and forth can continue until it's all resolved. That isnt happening, HC are not waiting for anything from the company?

As I stated before my gut instinct was that the gov approval was holding this up. I got it confirmed by IMV that indeed that is the case and there is nothing they can do about it, but wait. I have no reason to doubt a private company when it comes to gov bureaucracy.  I am wondering if Canadian government is undermining home research for it's own political agenda, it would not surprise ...more

Qwerty, there was no information imparted as to specifics except to state there was continuing discussions with HC.Apparently,as another poster has mentioned, because of the sensitivity of the discussions details were not provided. They implied they are also frustrated with the delay but hoped for an early and positive resolution. If no word by Wednesday, not sure if I will continue to hold all of my ...more

You do wonder if there is a political roadblock/delay here. Why would Canada not promote their own home grown companies after their debacle with the China vaccine ? Today they did a deal with AstraZeneca whose trial is halted I thought ? Something smells after seeing this. Yes you have to line up other vaccines that are almost proven, but why not do both and show some optomisim that Canadians ...more

It's more than worrisome, it's totally ridiculous. Finding a vaccine should be a sprint, not a walkathon. The Canadian government should not have announced that they were funding IMV several months ago if they had no intention of even supporting them into Phase 1. Other companies are already in Phase 3. At this rate they are setting the company up for failure if they are indeed holding ...more

I do not feel that this a political situation especially for a minority government. The only thing that jives is HC delay. It is too lengthy to be totally HC problem. We can only surmise but submission inadequatcy and slow data collection for responding to queries could also be problematic. All guesswork at this point.Let's hope for some info early next week

Another approach everyone whohas expressed concern can take is to email the Prime Minister, Health Minister, and Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development asking your main question - Why is Health Canada is so slow in approving Canadian companies for Phase 1 Covid trials?  You can look up their emails on your own, just google them. Here is what I found. The PM can be reached ...more
