DOOH
(DOOH) Digital out--of-home signage - flat TV screens displays with advertising. The numbers just keep getting better and better. I see these signs popping up everywhere now, even in cafes. They have been on the sides of buses here in Vancouver for a while. The industry calls those signs 'mobile dynamic signage', and they are very bright indeed at night.
One report claims the digital signage advertising market and out-of-home market in Western Europe will reach just under US$1 billion by 2012, a compound annual growth rate of 32% since 2007. Another claim I saw is that, globally, it is now an $8 billion a year industry.
As mentioned before, what's catching the eye now of advertisers, is autosteroscopic signage ('AS-3D'), arguably the potentially hottest trend in this business. However, industry experts say that, at this time, shortage of 3D content, cost of producing it, and price of the displays, are holding it back.
Two of these issues can be significantly addressed by Isee3D's technology. From my own experience with endoscope cameras and a camera we used outdoors at the racetrack, it was very easy to produce content and cheaply with the single lens, single camera system. Autostereoscopic displays will follow the same path that 3D ready TV will do over the next couple of years - that is decrease in price dramatically.
