RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:YikesThe U.S. is playing with fire here - if they prevent Glencore from paying royalties to Gertler there is a chance he could win an asset freeze/seizure case in congolese courts.  If the US makes it too hard to do business in the Congo then the Chinese will step in and buy some of the world's most valuable copper/cobalt resources for bargain prices effectively sealing China's future as the leader in the EV/Battery race. 

Its a very stupid move by the U.S. and I doubt this investigation will come to anything - my guess is that it is just a very public warning so people don't get too far out of line.
