People need to get a bit of perspective.  3-4 cents is nothing and the volumes are still subdued.
 
Do not underestimate how dramatic shutting Mutanda is.  That is 27kt of clean cobalt (i.e. not produced by a Chinese owned mine that may exploit Chinese labour) being yanked from the market.  That is an enormous number and could very well be the catalyst that starts another round of re-stocking and speculative buying.  Combine that with KAT’s lower guidance and the cobalt market is more or less in a deficit now (which Glencore effectively confirmed was their intention on the call).  Prices aren’t just low right now they are far too low for these mines to be viable.
