Glencore copper output falls in Q3 amid plans to shutter Mutanda; Cobalt rises on Katanga ramp up

Glencore said copper production fell amid plans to close its Mutanda mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but cobalt production was boosted as the miner ramped up operations at its Katanga mine. Copper production fell 4% to 1,015,800 tonnes in the third quarter from a year earlier and cobalt production of 34,400 tonnes was down 21% from a year earlier. The company said it expected to produce about 1.01m tonnes of copper for the full-year and about 43,000 tonnes of cobalt. At 8:37am: (LON:GLEN) Glencore PLC share price was -1.05p at 231.3p
